ASOS New Space Launch

I love lettering at events and it’s even better when it helps charity too 🤗!

Last week ASOS launched their fabulous new space featuring a brand new canteen, 2 coffee bars, a tech bar and loft space.

Not only that but in an effort to continue their sustainability strategy they ditched plastic coffee cups ☕️, plastic snack pots 🧀 and plastic cutlery! 🌿

I lettered lots of Chilly’s bottles and reusables to raise money for the ASOS Foundation and encourage folks to use less plastic 💪. As always I used my favourite 1 Shot enamel to make sure everyone’s bottles could withstand rattling around in a gym bag for yonks.

Thanks for letting me loose on your bottles Team ASOS! 👭👬👫

Island Glitter - DIY Glitter Bars

Wedding season has well and truly kicked off and to add to the busy times a little sparkly something has been happening…Island Glitter is go!

Myself and wonderful pal have launched a biodegradable glitter company that we are proud to say is ocean-friendly 🐋, vegan 🥑, plant-based 🌱, cruelty-free 🐻and arrives in 0% plastic-packaging 📦

Seeing no reason to offer 100% plastic glitter when alternatives are available 🙄, we’re now on a mission to shake up the beauty industry, helping spread glitter and good wherever we go!

If you’re planning a DIY glitter bar for your wedding day then take a peek at our bundles 👀, we love them!

ASOS Plastics Week Event

ASOS held an entire week of ace events to educate everyone on the harmful impact of one use plastic. They screened A Plastic Ocean, held talks from the guys at Keep Cup and Kings of Indigo, and hosted a visit from the wonky veg superstars at ChicP.

They asked me to personalise their Chilly Bottles and reusables for a donation to the ASOS Foundation. It was so popular we had to add an extra slot!

Thanks for letting me loose on your bottles guys - we raised lots of money spreading the awareness of two terrific causes!

Derby Winter Wedding

Selina and Robin’s wedding was one cosy affair; loads of festoon lights, mini baked camembert canapés (I know), winter foliage, velvet, a whisky bar and warming gin cocktails created by the groom that packed a punch.

Their wedding was in the beautiful old mills in Derby so they decided to keep it super relaxed with a brush lettering sepia table plan which they pinned to an old drawing board.

We teamed the table plan with big ole calligraphy table numbers and blackened bronze place names on kraft card. Congratulations Selina and Robin, you lovely pair!

Selfridges Beauty Event

I had a super festive start to December lettering up in the Selfridges Manchester store!

There was a live band, champers and lots of shoppers getting their Christmas cards personalised by me in their hugeee beauty hall.

Louie Tilley - Selfridges

We opted for beautiful metallic brush lettering for a bit of Christmas bling; silver on white and copper on kraft brown. It was so busy I even had to give away my little practice runs!

Thanks so much to Kyle for capturing all these lovely pictures and to Selfridges for making me feel so welcome.

If you need me to cover an event or party, drop me a wee note here with your ideas or email me on hello@louietilley.com!

The Wedding Gallery Summer Soirée

The Wedding Gallery held their Summer Soirée at One Marylebone and asked me to create some giant lettered mirrors to say thank you to all their lovely suppliers...and they really were giant 7ft beasts which meant I was propped on a ladder!

Thanks to Sandra at Divine Day Photography for the lovely snaps!

We were serenaded by the Urban Soul Orchestra and Adrian Garcia + band in sweltering London sunshine!

Tipples came from Bloom Gin, Moët and The Cocktail Service (delicioussssss guys, seriously) and the garden was decorated with splendid sculptures from Bubblegum Balloons.

Sarah Smart Illustration painted all the lovely guests and we danced until we needed pizza from Lucabuca and flipflops.

It was so nice to meet all the other wedding suppliers and hear about why they chose the wedding industry; happy days, smiley people and every single wedding is unique. Here here! A pretty good Wednesday evening I'd say.

Reading In Heels - May Box

This month I collaborated with Reading In Heels and created them some lovely lettering to go on their bookmarks and chocolate that were featured in the box! I'm surprised the chocolate lasted long enough for photos, thanks to all the folks that tagged me - I loved having a nose through them.

If you're a bookworm, go take a peep! It's a subscription that delivers an excellent little book to your door every month...plus some extra goodies :).

Event ~ MALIN+GOETZ and Reading In Heels

On Thursday I had the loooovely job of live lettering for customers at MALIN+GOETZ Islington store (it is beautiful and designed by Jonathan Tuckey) for the Books and Beauty event hosted by Reading In Heels.

Malin and Goetz Islington

I was tucked up in the window surrounded by their sage candle (my ponytail had a few close shaves but we were fine) whilst customers were given perfume consultations, mini facials and the opportunity to nose at books provided by local bookstore Burley Fisher.

Lettering away in the window.

If that wasn't enough, the event supported Beauty Banks; a superb charity who provide donated toiletries to those most in need. You can read about how they came to be here. If you do have miniatures and unwanted new toiletries, do give them a shout!

I'm looking forward to my next event already :).

SAVE THE DATES ~ TOP TIPS

Planning a wedding is hectic to say the least, so it's wonderful to have top tips from suppliers in the industry to avoid common mistakes and ensure you get exactly what you want.

The lovely folks at Love My Dress asked for save the date tips from some of their wedding stationery bods, here are a few of mine (some apply to more than save the dates!):

GET WHAT YOU WANT

First and foremost, ask for exactly what you want. Even if it is sky-blue-pink with a yellow border, because chances are it can be done!

IDEAS

Send as much info as possible when you drop me a line. The more info I have (think images, colour, finishing), the easier and quicker it will be to get you a quote - and let's face it, that's the most important thing!

AWKWARD CONVOS

Use save the dates as a breeeezy way to ask a guest to 'save the evening' instead of sending them save the dates AND invites. It also avoids any awkward convos.

ONE AT A TIME

Get the save the dates out first and then worry about the rest. Any good stationery supplier won't force you to design and pay for ALL stationery at the same time, that would be crazy talk.

You will also be able to run any design through it all, so take one thing at a time so you can focus on budget and changes in circumstances.

COMMS + TRANSPARENCY

Communication is key! Boring but true. I will keep you up to date with work in progress snaps and involve you at all stages.

If something can't be done within budget or to a high enough standard, I will be the first to let you know and I will work with you to recommend alternatives.

Above all, this is the exciting bit and should be fun! Whomever you choose, it's their job to know what weight a paper should be and whether you need matte or satin, so take their advice and let them do the hard work! :)

Little Book For Brides ~ Louie Tilley Lettering

2018 is looking set to be a busy year for weddings so I am super chuffed to be featured in the Little Book For Brides directory alongside all the other lovely stationery bods.

Beautiful bespoke wedding stationery, chalkboards and signs finished off with exquisite calligraphy and brush lettering by Louie. We adore her work.

Give me a shout if you have a wedding next year and need some advice; I work on the teeniest detail such as place names all the way up to entire packages on the day, nothing is too small and I'm always up for a cuppa and a brainstorm!
